Spice Substitutions
 

  • Allspice 1 tsp=1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground cloves & 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Garlic 1 clove= 1/2 tsp dried minced or 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • Garlic Salt 1 tsp= 1/4 tsp garlic powder & 3/4 tsp salt
  • Ginger fresh grated 1 tbsp= 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • Fresh herbs 1 tbsp= 1 tsp dried herbs
  • Italian Seasoning 2 tsp= 1 tsp dried Oregano, 1/2 tsp dried Basil & 1/2 tsp dried Thyme leaves
  • Mustard prepared 1 tbsp= 1 tsp dried Mustard & 1-2 tsp of vinegar or water

When heating stuffing in the oven or warming in a crock pot add 2 browned but not thoroughly cooked turkey wings on top.  The juices from the wings will give just the right amount of flavor to make you think it came from the turkey itself!  Roast the wings for 20 minutes in a 350° oven(just until they start getting brown)

Trimming Asparagus-  bend the asparagus stalk and it well naturally break where the tough part of stalk meets the tender part.
